Solid Projects is an artist-run curatorial platform located at The Old Print Works in Birmingham. It was founded by Monica Perez Vega and Day Barry.

Solid Projects is about presence. It is about tangible thought and archived experience. Amidst the continuous motion that defines our modern condition, Solid Projects aims to give the opportunity to pause, observe and engage through exhibitions and events and an exchange of dialogue and perspectives.

About The Old Print Works:

‘The Old Print Works is an old industrial heritage building that was vacated in 2009 and is now run by a charitable company, Make It Sustainable Ltd.  We have a range of social, cultural and environmental aims and want to make a difference for the locality where we are based, Balsall Heath, one of the most deprived areas of Birmingham, as well as for the wider creative community.

The Old Print Works is a viable social business, renting out a series of maker spaces and event spaces to support our charitable aims. It has grown largely without grant support and we want to continue with this model for our ongoing operating costs. The Old Print Works hosts woodworkers, ceramists, photographers and a range of other designer makers and community-facing organisations, together with a whole host of events that celebrate and enrich local culture. We have invested over £400k in the building so far, securing the building from decline and dereliction.’
